Did you have a clear idea of what you wanted your house to look like when you built it? Were you looking for an alternative and uncommon-style home when you bought yours? Are you still searching for a home with an innovative design? Are you looking for an unusual idea? Look at Mr and Mrs O’Donnell’s newly-built home!

It is located in an upscale neighbourhood in Melbourne Australia – and resembles to a 1960s hi-fi stereo. It is the result of the experimental work of Michael O’Sullivan, the architect and furniture designer who also own Vibe Design Group in Melbourne.

Mr and Mrs O’Donnell intended to sell the home as soon as it was built, but when they saw its striking design, they changed their mind and decided to move in. this investment property became their home.

The façade of this amazing modern house is made of ash and tinted glass. A slatted-wood base recalls a vintage stereo cabinet. Mrs O’Donnell is a sales consultant for a real estate company in Melbourne. Mr O’Donnell sold its IT Company in 2006 and decided to go into speculative real estate. They bought a building lot in the outskirts of Melbourne for 1.1 million Australian dollars. The construction of this 3,456-sq foot three-bedroom architectural masterpiece required an investment of 2 million Australian dollars.

Going into O’Donnell house off the entrance hall, you can see wooden panels concealing home appliances – the refrigerator, the dishwasher, the wall ovens… - the door to the bathroom and a walk-in cupboard used for storing wine.

The house is gradually made known to visitors, due to the presence of so many hidden areas. The house was designed as to make the most of natural light. It includes a master bedroom – that can be reached crossing a corridor off the kitchen – two smaller carpeted bedrooms sharing a bathroom and a study nook. The basement hosts an exercise room and a patio. The exterior is wrapped up in EXOtec.
