Living in Austria: let's find out how much and if it's worth it!

Changing your life is the dream of many. Whether it's a temporary change to disconnect from the daily routine or definitely is a choice shared by many people.

One of the latest trends is to find a home in Austria.
There are many questions on the subject: why? What are the steps to follow? And above all, is it worthwhile?

If you are also interested in this country, you simply have to follow some of our advice.

First of all, Austria is not only an aesthetically and naturally fantastic country, but it is also very economically developed and characterised by a warm and friendly population.

Let's start with the documents: what do you need before moving ?

1.identity document, other than identity card as in Austria unlike in many countries, is not required. Nevertheless, the identity card is also considered valid.

2. Certificate of residence, called ''meldezettel'', which attests to the domicile.
You must obtain it within three days of arrival and combine it with the certificate of residence.

3. A residence permit is not required if the country of origin is a member of the EU.
However, you must register with the employment office.

The cost of living

Living in Austria requires profitable employment that allows you to bear the costs of temporary housing as well.
Usually a person who lives in this country in a dignified way, receives 1400 euros per month.
Cheaper than nearby Switzerland but more than Italy, it allows you to start this new adventure without too many problems!

Strengths

Health care system: it is the spearhead of the Austrian organization. by virtue of the health care system, and an insurance that fully covers what is necessary when contracting a disease, Austria is considered a nation in the forefront.

Low crime : if you want to move around at all hours of the day and night, Austria is the country for you!

Work: Bureaucratically, it's really easy to find a job.

Friendly people: the friendliness and warmth of the Austrian people will help you get used to it. Fairs and ethnic festivals are essential for those who want to build new relationships.

Sport and nature: mountain sports such as hiking, ice skating and skiing are the abc of Austrian sports activity.

Last but not least, the cost of real estate.

How much and how to buy a house in Austria ?

There are some local variations:

First of all, let's dispel the myth that in Austria it costs too much to buy a house.
The average price is the same as in Europe.
According to the procedural rule, the buyer makes an offer including the basic characteristics of the house for the future contract, drawn up by a lawyer or a notary.
The latter is based on two stages: the offer (also verbal) and the inscription in the land register of the property. Until the land registry, the seller is still the owner.
The price is paid at a locked deposit per guarantee. These stages are extremely organized by the guarantor body of the law.
Time limits may vary depending on the clauses in the contract.

The most popular areas in Vienna are the city centre and districts 13-18-19.

Prices range from 130,000 euros for a studio apartment in the heart of Vienna, to much higher figures (1,000,000) for extreme luxury apartments.

In summary :
Vienna is ideal for those who are looking for a real estate investment thanks to the fast turnaround times and the excellent bureaucracy. The important thing is to start this search only after finding a stable job.
